Well, you heart has just exited your body ... and is now just ... out in the world? (They say someday your heart will move out and get its own apartment; ridiculous.) I love documenting this dream-like bubble of time for new parents because I know how cherished these images become. You will never believe they were this small, or that they could still get that look on their face.

Bump to Baby
Elisa and Winston in Cambridge
Elisa and Winston's newborn session took place in their beautiful plant-filled Somerville home for ultimate coziness, ease, and intimacy. We ended the session with a short walk around their neighborhood.
I love hearing my clients' birth stories!

Lifestyle Newborn session
Molly & Nick in Somerville
Molly and Nick welcomed Frankie into their home while in the middle of some major renovation, which was running late (as these things always do)! They wondered if we should relocate due to the construction mess. We actually wound up doing half the session right in the middle of it, just being strategic with angles.
At the end of the session, Molly's best friend since the age of 2 arrived for a visit, bringing her baby who is just a couple of months older than Frankie! I had just packed up but couldn't resist getting taking a quick photo of their babies meeting each other.

Melissa and Zach in Somerville
I met Melissa and Zach when they stopped by my space at Somerville Open Studios, initially there to browse the poetry books sold by my studio-mate. They were very pregnant. "We should also totally do this!" they said, and signed up for their newborn session that day.
We planned a cozy winter session inside their home, complete with jammies. They were visibly overflowing with love.

Lisa and Adam in medford
Lisa and Adam welcomed their daughter Sophia in July. They're both music lovers and piano players, and adept at holding a baby and playing at the same time! Their Medford home is right across the street from an entrance into the Fells where they walk often, so we followed their in-home session with a quick walk in the woods. Sophia didn't seem to mind.

Cami & Henry in Somerville
We photographed Cami and Henry's maternity session in my Somerville studio, and then a couple of days after their son was born they got in touch to schedule their session in their cozy home in Somerville.
"He's a great sleeper, with a great head of hair!" they said. Check and check.

Jamie & Mike in Newburyport
Jamie and Mike had a long journey to Susanna's arrival, so everyone was extra excited to meet her! I met up with them at Anna Jaques Hospital in Newburyport when Susanna was just a little over a day old.

So many moments in parenthood feel absolutely, beautifully unforgettable. They wrap right into our DNA and change us; we relive them often and tell them as family stories. A song comes on the radio and it forever transports us to late nights rocking the baby to that particular refrain.
Photographs allow us to take our loved ones with us into the memory. One of my favorite things growing up was going through my parents' pictures of us together when I was a baby. I still look at them with wonder; the photos feel like they are the key to something. I glean something new every time I revisit them, like a sacred text that illuminates new truths with different contexts and perspectives.
And here's the wonderful, tragic truth: often times, we think we'll remember every single precious detail, but with time together new beautiful memories crowd in. How small were those little hands? How did your first child react when meeting your second? And equally importantly: what did you look like back then? How did you look at them?
My passion is making authentic images that will be precious to you today, five, ten, fifteen and forty years from now; and also, priceless to all the people in this family you're creating forever.
Call me old-fashioned but I really love to connect by a phone call first: I just find it's the fastest way to give you all the information about how I work, answer any questions you might have, and just get to know each other a little bit to make sure I'm the right photographer for you. You can select a preferred date and time on my contact page and I'll call you then! Consultation calls take 15 to 20 minutes; barking dogs, loud children, and cooing or fussy babies are totally welcome background additions.
Hate phone calls? Love reading? Send me an email and I'll respond within 1 business day with all my process and pricing information and some basic questions to make sure we're a great fit.
1. Say Hello
2. Reserving your Session
At the end of our call, we'll discuss your due date and the ideal time frame you're looking for with your newborn photographs: if that's a Fresh 48 session taking place in your hospital or birth-place, or an in-home session happening around 7-10 days, or waiting to around the 1 month mark for all the smiles and eye contact. I'll send you my contract and invoice for your session fee, and once you've signed and paid, I am officially on-call for your session date!
Newborn sessions are scheduled approximately: I make sure I have date options available for you starting two weeks before our "scheduled date" and two weeks after. Just text me once baby arrives and we'll choose your official session date!
Don't know what to wear? How clean to make your house? Don't worry, I'm here for you every step of the way!
Once your date is reserved, I'll send you my pre-session questionnaire to help us finalize any details about our time together, as well as my preparation guide with suggestions on what to wear, how to talk to any of baby's siblings about a photo session and get yourself in a great mindset, when to feed baby for the best images, and how to "pretend-tidy" a room.
I'll check in on you a week before your due date to make sure all your outfits are ready and offer any feedback if you want it!
3. helping you prepare
Hip hip hooray, it's photo session day! I'll arrive at your birth-place or home, wash my hands, and chat with you a little bit before we get started. If baby has any siblings, I may ask them to give me a tour.
The average "Fresh 48" session lasts just about 45 minutes (I know a lot is happening in those very first days!), and in-home sessions are around 2 hours.
4. let's do it!
Within two weeks of your photo session date, I'll send you an email letting you know your slideshow of beautiful edited images is ready to view. I will be super excited. You will be super excited. It's a party!
Once you've watched your slideshow (maybe five or twenty times, maybe crying each time, maybe that's just me) and shared the link with any family members who might also love to see it, you'll be able to make an informed decision on which of the three collections I offer that you'd like to purchase. Each collection includes a certain number of digital files, and a bonus value of print credit — I want to make sure you come out of your session not just with pretty jpegs, but something tangible that your children and future generations are going to cherish for years to come.
5. your photographs
heirloom artwork and albums
Collections start at $1250
I believe in clear, simple pricing; I charge a small session fee of $375 for our time together, and you only pay for the images you want after you've seen them! All collections include a generous print credit to get those images out of the digital world and into heirloom-quality prints you can cherish in your hands and admire on your walls.
AHH! I keep going through these while Sasha is in daycare and swooning. I love them so much. What a treasure; They just totally capture our light together and I cannot wait to hang some of these up to look at every day.
What will I think in ten years? That question from your getting ready email kind of has been kicking around in me.. I get a little nostalgic while I look at the photos even though I'm living these moments right now.
You're amazing; thank you for sharing your gift.

Adrianne is BRILLIANT, and her work is truly EXCEPTIONAL.
She listened carefully to our requests and then followed us around our home, and the rest was magic. She is a highly-skilled photographer and a true artist with the ability to capture the most precious and intimate family moments.
Our boys loved interacting with Adrianne, she was so good with them, easygoing, and playful.
We are so grateful that we chose her to capture our family. She has now taken our photos for the second year in a row, and we will continue to work with her because there is truly no one else like her.

Oh Adrianne, these are so wonderful!!
So beautifully done and the coloring is superb. You even captured some of our chaos! We now have to pick which ones we want to blow up and print, and that’s going to be a tough decision because there isn’t a bad photo in the whole bunch. Thank you so much!

Adrianne's a photographer with soul. It's an amazing thing to see the world through her eyes. She puts you at ease, embraces the weird and funky and intimate, and makes you look more like yourself than you ever thought possible, completely joyful in the presence of your favorite people. I kind of wish she lived in my closet so that she could capture my family all the time.

Adrianne! I didn't get a chance to email you officially (though I've obviously already shared some images over social media) but we LOVE the photo gallery! You made us look like models! So grateful that you captured our family in this way at this time. It changes so fast, but we really will have fond memories of this time with our son, before everything "goes back to normal."
