Maternity session
Katie, nick and charlie
I've been photographing Katie and Nick's family since Charlie first joined them; it was so sweet to be able to then document their final weeks as a family of three. We met up at North Point Park along the Charles where they often walk together and Charlie could admire the trains and boats.

Maternity session in studio
Cami and Henry
Cami and Henry decided to do their maternity session in my Somerville studio, and I was so excited! While I also nerd out about beautiful locations and golden hour, the simplicity of the paper backdrops in studio sessions let the images simply be about your relationship with each other and the changing shape of your body.

Elizabeth
I met Elizabeth at a nail salon. What? Yes. I don't usually approach strangers in public places, but I couldn't resist giving her my card.
We had fun playing with a new all-sizes dress I've added to my client closet, to supplement the clothing Elizabeth brought that she wears in her real-life as an architect. Hair and makeup by Kerri Herlihy.

Angie
I've known Angie for almost 20 years and she may be one of my most well-documented friends (who also says she hates having her photo taken, sorry Angie). I photographed the birth and homecoming of her first child, her children's piano classes, and asked her into the studio when she was undergoing IVF for number 2. When it worked out we decided to celebrate with maternity images!

Maternity session ... number two
Stephanie
Stephanie had already had a maternity session done with another photographer outdoors and loved the images, but when she saw what was possible in studio, she decided to come in for round 2 a little later in her pregnancy: why not?
Dusty rose dress and maternity overalls are from my Client Closet. Hair and makeup by Kerri Herlihy.

in-home maternity session
Krista in chestnut hill
I met Krista at her home in Chestnut Hill the day before she was scheduled to be induced. I loved her natural air of serenity despite the big life changes coming their way!
Often in portraits we value eye contact with the viewer, but I could tell Krista was in her own world, and we leaned into that.

Most of the "work" of our session is done in advance, with picking just the right spot, choosing a (very laid back) schedule, and getting you prepared with tailored wardrobe and accessory guidance.
With maternity sessions I'll chat with you throughout the session, both because I love to nerd out over your birth plan and names you've definitely ruled out and all the things you're excited about, and to help you think less about posing in certain ways and more about that beautifully nebulous future. I'll listen and adjust, creating images that are true to your state of mind right now. To me, maternity sessions are an incredible opportunity for a genuine, heartfelt portrait.
What To Expect For Your Boston Maternity Photo Session
Call me old-fashioned but I really love to connect by a phone call first: I just find it's the fastest way to give you all the information about how I work, answer any questions you might have, and just get to know each other a little bit to make sure I'm the right photographer for you. You can select a preferred date and time on my contact page and I'll call you then! Consultation calls take 15 to 20 minutes; barking dogs, loud children, and cooing or fussy babies are totally welcome background additions.
Hate phone calls? Love reading? Send me an email and I'll respond within 1 business day with all my process and pricing information and some basic questions to make sure we're a great fit.
1. Say Hello
2. Reserving your date
At the end of our call, I'll let you know some dates I have open in the time frame you're looking for, and ask if you'd like to include hair and makeup services. No need to figure out location and exact timing just yet!
We'll pencil you in and I'll send you my contract and invoice for your session fee; once you've signed and paid, your date is officially reserved in my calendar!
Don't know what to wear? Where to park at my studio? How clean to make your house? Don't worry, I'm here for you every step of the way!
Once your date is reserved, I'll send you my pre-session questionnaire to help us finalize any details about our time together, as well as my preparation guide with suggestions on what to wear, how to get yourself in a great mindset for the session, and how to "pretend-tidy" a room if the session might be in your home.
I'll check in on you a week before your session to make sure all your outfits are ready and offer any feedback if you want it, and the day before I'll confirm our meetup time and location (and if we need to make alternate weather plans, I'll offer some options).
3. helping you prepare
Hip hip hooray, it's photo session day! Whether we're meeting at your home, my studio, a favorite park, bookstore, mountain climb, or sledding trip, I'll be waiting for you at our meeting spot excited to catch up with you and meet your family members. If the location is your home or a favorite place with your kids, I may ask them to give me a tour.
I don't rush into taking pictures immediately. We'll chat, find a great spot and try some things, then move on to another idea! The average maternity session lasts about an hour.
4. let's do it!
Within two weeks of your photo session date, I'll send you an email letting you know your slideshow of beautiful edited images is ready to view. I will be super excited. You will be super excited. It's a party!
Once you've watched your slideshow (maybe five or twenty times, maybe crying each time, maybe that's just me) and shared the link with any family members who might also love to see it, you'll be able to make an informed decision on which of the three collections I offer that you'd like to purchase. Each collection includes a certain number of digital files, and a bonus value of print credit — I want to make sure you come out of your session not just with pretty jpegs, but something tangible that your children and future generations are going to cherish for years to come.
5. your photographs
heirloom artwork • priceless
Collections start at $1250
I believe in clear, simple pricing; I charge a small session fee of $375 for our time together, and you only pay for the images you want after you've seen them! All collections include a generous print credit so you walk away from your session with something gorgeous and tangible.
AHH! I keep going through these while Sasha is in daycare and swooning. I love them so much. What a treasure; They just totally capture our light together and I cannot wait to hang some of these up to look at every day.
What will I think in ten years? That question from your getting ready email kind of has been kicking around in me.. I get a little nostalgic while I look at the photos even though I'm living these moments right now.
You're amazing; thank you for sharing your gift.

Adrianne is BRILLIANT, and her work is truly EXCEPTIONAL.
She listened carefully to our requests and then followed us around our home, and the rest was magic. She is a highly-skilled photographer and a true artist with the ability to capture the most precious and intimate family moments.
Our boys loved interacting with Adrianne, she was so good with them, easygoing, and playful.
We are so grateful that we chose her to capture our family. She has now taken our photos for the second year in a row, and we will continue to work with her because there is truly no one else like her.

Oh Adrianne, these are so wonderful!!
So beautifully done and the coloring is superb. You even captured some of our chaos! We now have to pick which ones we want to blow up and print, and that’s going to be a tough decision because there isn’t a bad photo in the whole bunch. Thank you so much!

Adrianne's a photographer with soul. It's an amazing thing to see the world through her eyes. She puts you at ease, embraces the weird and funky and intimate, and makes you look more like yourself than you ever thought possible, completely joyful in the presence of your favorite people. I kind of wish she lived in my closet so that she could capture my family all the time.

Adrianne! I didn't get a chance to email you officially (though I've obviously already shared some images over social media) but we LOVE the photo gallery! You made us look like models! So grateful that you captured our family in this way at this time. It changes so fast, but we really will have fond memories of this time with our son, before everything "goes back to normal."
